Retro Flowers Status Update

Tonight I started to pin my petals together for the Retro Flowers quilt.  I used 200 pins and I only got through the red.  This is going to take awhile.
Since I'm only using 12 fabrics, I am repeating the first row for the fourth.  So, I have double the amount of red, pink, orange and yellow petals.  That's a lot of pins.  I may have to do this in batches.  Not going to lie, I'm a little nervous about sewing these curves.
On a completely different note - my parents just got back from visiting friends in Florida and they brought back the best present ever.
I have wanted a set of pink plastic flamingos for a very long time.  There is just something about them that I love!  I just need to think up an awesome way to display them.  Still undecided about leaving them outside.  I would hate to ruin them.  Now all I need are some lawn gnomes and my collection of tacky lawn ornaments will be complete.  Awesome!!  Flamingos make everyone smile!
In closing, here is my pretty Buddha girl posing for the camera and Sushi sunning himself.

I'm back!

Wow!  It has been a while.  I started a new job the beginning of January, and having only worked a total of 28 days in 2011, its taken me awhile to get used to being back in the work force.  As a result of my new found employment, my quilting has been minimal.  I am currently working on a HUGE project for my cousin.  I will post pictures of it as soon as it is done and mailed off.  I have also been working on getting my etsy shop started.  This means I need to create an inventory.  I have my work cut out for me.  You may have noticed that I changed the title of my blog.  I wanted to link my blog to my etsy shop which has the same name.
I have been doing a little bit of sewing while taking breaks from the HUGE project.  I've finished a quilt top using Terrain by Kate Spain.  Love the bright colors.  I am now on the lookout for fabric for the back.  Pretty sure I want to continue the Terrain on the back, just don't know what pattern I want to use.  I will post pictures this weekend when I have some sunlight.
I have also started sewing some new pot holders for myself.  This is kind of an experiment with a new pattern for pocket pot holders.  I got the idea from Cindy at Skip To My Lou.  So, assuming my pot holders turn out amazing, I will be making a ton more for my shop.  Here is a sneak peek at the fabrics I'm using.  Love the sushi fabric.  So fun!

I made Sushi and Buddha some cat nip pouches that they totally freaked out over.  Sushi actually played with them.  That's saying something.  He usually only plays with crumpled up paper.  Here is Buddha looking insane playing with her new toy.

One more thing and then I promise to let you go.  I am doing my very first Quilt Along.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with what this is, its a quilt that you work on while following the steps on the host's blog.  It's a good way to learn new techniques and get advice from the online quilting community.  Megan from City Stitches and Bianca from Sweet Diesel Designs will be hosting the Retro Flowers QAL.  The pattern is by Christina of The Sometimes Crafter.  Here is the fabric I have chosen for this project.  Its Pezzy by American Jane for Moda, and it is wonderful!

Okay, I do believe I have bored you enough for one night.  I will be posting pictures of my progress here and on Flickr so check back in.
