The last 3 months...

I have totally slacked off on updating the blog for the last 3 months.  So, without further delay, here is what happened.  (Warning:  this post will be photo heavy)

October:
Zack turned 30!!  We had a party with family and friends.  A good time was had by all.  The best part?  Zack got a Forever Lazy.  It's an adult onsie.  I don't understand either, but he really wanted one.

Halloween!  We've got a couple of pop singers, an injured hockey player, and a scary skeleton court jester.  This was Vera's first Halloween, and Ava is dressed as a butterfly.  Both girls are too cute.  And we can't forget about George the skeleton dog.

 November:

A trip into Old Town.  Took this with the Instagram camera on my iPhone.

Nikki's Birthday!

December:
We got our first Christmas tree - ever!  Granted, it's not the traditional tree, but Zack and I are not traditional people.  There is something to be said about just sitting and staring at the lights on the tree.  Very relaxing.

This year I handmade Christmas gifts.  I made holiday pot holders for all of the ladies in the family.  I also made my Mom place mats that match the color scheme of her dining room.  Dad got a Border Collie/England themed quilt to keep him warm while watching TV.  Both were well received.
The fabric is Fandango by Kate Spain

The front consists of Border Collie panels combined with a cream Kona Cotton.  The back is a map of the tube, a bus panel consisting of a combination of linen and cotton, and a UK love fabric.  All of the is bordered by a blue cotton.

Hope you're not too tired of looking at my pictures.  Next time I won't wait so long to do a post.  Have a happy and safe New Year!
XOXO - Meg

Mini golf

Zack, Drew, Max, Grace and I went and played some mini golf today.  I always forget how much fun mini golf is.  I actually succeeded in making a couple of holes in one.  I'm seriously considering a career in the pros.

I run with needles

Here is yet another craft related injury.  I really should not be allowed to play with sharp things.  I am, in fact, a danger to myself.  As Leanna put it, "We may have to take away your crafting license."  That may have to happen if I continue to stab and maim myself with sewing needles, scissors, and stick pins.

A stack of superheroes

2 1/2 inches of fabric squares to be pieced together.

Yesterday I was able to cut 6 1/2" squares from all 9 of the superhero fabrics I have for Jack's birthday quilt.  It took all day, but I was able to get it done.  Now I just have to figure out a layout.

The dangers of quilting

While hand sewing the binding to the back of my latest quilt, I put the needle through my fingernail.  It didn't hurt a bit.  It was just really cool.  This quilt has taken a lot out of me.  It is by far the largest one I have done.  It took forever to baste the thing, and even longer to quilt it.  There has been blood and sweat.  No tears, but it's still early.  As I write this, the quilt is in the dryer.  There is always a bit of anxiety when you wash and dry the quilt for the first time.  Fingers crossed it doesn't fall apart.

A visit from Vera

Kristy brought Vera over for a visit today.  It was the first time there had ever been a baby in this house, and the cats were perplexed.  Buddha tried to climb into the carrier while Vera was still inside, and Sushi just didn't know what to make of the situation.
